About the event

On 18 January 2026, a liberal candidate secured third place in Portugal’s presidential election for the first time. João Cotrim de Figueiredo finished with 16% and the highest vote share ever for a liberal candidate in a presidential race.

His campaign, Imagina Portugal, delivered an optimistic message of renewal and a “liberal surge” in Portugal. He turned liberal ideas into a vision that connected across generations, using both online and offline channels.
